2007 - JFC - Meath Hill 0-10, Kilbride 1-09
After a terrible start in the championship, Kilbride needed a win here over Meath Hill to ensure survival. Meath Hill had already qualified for the quarter finals but were looking for another win to try to top the group and to keep their own run going. However this Kilbride team is virtually unstoppable at the moment with a full panel to pick from and they duly secured the win at Simonstown.
Good performances from John Bruton, Brian Reilly, Joe Barron, Craig Sheridan and Niall Farrelly saw Kilbride home.

2007 - AFL - Moylagh 1-09, Kilbride 1-09
Kilbride made heavy work of earning this draw against a hard working Moylagh side. Kilbride registered 5 wides in the first few minutes and this seemed to spur Moylagh into life with their long haired full forward kicking some quickfire scores. Kilbride settled and a goal from Mark Sheridan brought them back into it.
In the second half a Moylagh penalty edged them ahead with a few minutes remaining before a Robbie Rooney point drew them level for a deserved draw.

2007 - JFC - Kilmainham 1-08, Kilbride 1-11
Kilbride earned a merited first win this years championship over a fancied Kilmainham in Walterstown. Kilbride bolted out of the blocks and registered scores from Brian White, Craig Sheridan, Jeff Sheridan to race into a four point lead. However a lull followed and Kilmainham scored 5 unanswered points before Kilbride hit back with 2 of their own and Kilmainham responded with 1 to leave the halftime score at 0-7 to Kilbride and 0-06 to Kilmainham.
The second half was an entertaining affair with both teams giving their all. A David Harford goal pushed Kilbride 4 points ahead before Kilmainham scrambled a goal to put the pressure on. However points from Brian White, John Bruton and Robbie Rooney put the icing on the cake as Kilbride finished strongly.

2007 - AFL - St. Brigids 1-11, Kilbride 1-12
Kilbride started confidently in this match and raised the flag early through long range points from Robbie Rooney, Joe Barron and Brian White. St Brigids managed to settle and get ball into their dangerous corner forwards, their number fifteen rattling the onion sack after a long ball put him clear on goal. Kilbride managed to steady the ship before halftime, resulting in 2 Finbarr Clarke points.
St. Brigids started well after the break and notched a few points to edge ahead by 2 with about 20 minutes remaining. Then when a Brian White effort came down off the bar, seasoned campaigner Robbie Rooney reacted quickest to fist the rebound to the net to put Kilbride ahead by a point. At this stage, both teams were going toe to toe and providing a thrilling contest which could have gone either way. St. Brigids forwards were looking dangerous but were well curtailed by a tight Kilbride defence marshalled by Conor Rennicks and led by Brian Reilly and Niall Farrelly. A hard working performance was capped off by points from Paul Smith, Finbarr Clarke and Jeff Sheridan which sealed the win and pushes Kilbride further up the table and away from the drop zone.

2007 - AFL - St. Vincents 1-07, Kilbride 0-12
On the first day of July, we had glimpses of all 4 seasons and also a glimpse of a newfound determination in the Kilbride ranks. Kilbride immediately set about the game with a steely businesslike attitude, playing a direct brand of football into the full forward line. In turn the forwards were direct and shot without hesitation, a ploy which resulted in fine points from Robbie Rooney and Joe Barron. Finbarr Clarke also converted some difficult free's to keep the scoreboard ticking over. Unfortunately St. Vincents pounced for an opportunistic goal to peg back Kilbride to a 2 point lead at half time which should have been more.
Dermot White injected a bit of fire into the half time cup of tea while urging a calm determination. This is exactly what Kilbride delivered in the second half as they stuck to the task and stretched the lead with points from Craig Sheridan, Brian White and Finbarr Clarke. The big challenge now was to close out the game and Kilbride resisted the inevitable St. Vincents fightback, David Harford and Niall Farrelly leading the rearguard action. When the backs won the ball, the forwards worked hard to make themselves available and this helped to retain possession and ultimately hold on. Still, Kilbride needed a great save from Emmett Farrell at the death to get over the line by 2 points.

2007 - AFL - Kilmainham beat Kilbride by 1 point, score to follow
On a wintery night in the middle of June, Kilbride and Kilmainham put on an entertaining show in this Div. 4 clash. Kilmainham started well showing a lot of pace and carving Kilbride up the middle, resulting in some early scores and an unconverted penalty. Kilbride managed to apply the brakes and gained a foothold around the middle which was confirmed through scores from Brian White and 1-1 from Robbie Rooney.
Kilbride started the second half well with an immediate score against the strong wind from Brian White. With a 5 point lead heading into the last 15 minutes, Kilmainham were on the ropes but when the upped the ante, Kilbride started to falter and make simple mistakes from backs to forwards.
With 1 minute remaining, Kilmainham finally drew level and quickly went a point ahead through a penalty from a foul that seemed to be a long way out.
This was Kilbride's third 1 point defeat in a row to a late score, a habilt that will have to be corrected soon.

2007 - JFC - Simonstown
1-7, Kilbride 0-9
Simonstown made a positive start in this JFC encounter in Dunshaughlin to race ahead of Kilbride. Simonstown dominated midfield in the first half which meant a ready supply of ball into their dangerous full forward line. Kilbride managed to stay in touch through tigerish defending at the back from David Harford and Brian Reilly as well as 3 powerful saves from Emmett Farrell and scores from Finbarr Clarke and Joe Barron kept them within 2 points at half time.
Dermot White's half time chat warmed up the Kilbride lads, who went on to overturn the midfield dominence and go 2 points ahead with 2 fisted scores from Robbie Rooney and more Finbarr Clarke free's. Great battling kept Simonstown pinned back for much of the half but after a disputed line call, they managed to break for a last minute goal to go one point ahead and win the match.

2007 - JFC - Curraha
0-8, Kilbride 0-7
Kilbride started like a train in this div 4 encounter at Kilbride
pitch. Kilbride were soon into a 6 points to 1 lead through points
from Finbar Clarke, Joe Barron and Chris Rafter. In control,
tragedy struck for Kilbride after about 15 minutes when Andy
Rennicks was sent off. This galvanised Curraha into action and
they utilised the extra man well to go into the break only 2
points off the lead.
In the second half Kilbride were up against it as you would
expect. They then went on to produce the most gutsy performance
of the season so far to repel wave after wave of attacks. The
back 6 were outstanding in defence, while midfield and the half
forwards worked like trojans. With only a few minutes left, Curraha
finally drew level and then convert a close free to finally take
the lead. Kilbride managed to mount one last attack, but it did
not lead to a score and a share of the points which Kilbride
undoubtably deserved.

Dunboyne 1-11, Kilbride 0-7
Dunboyne fielded a very strong team for this junior A clash
with neighbours Kilbride in Dunsany. Indeed a few of their number
had SFC medals from 2005, in their back pockets. Not that it
weighed them down any as they raced ahead of Kilbride and registered
some early scores with the aid of a healthy wind which died down
unfortunately at half time. Kilbride struggled to judge their
kicking into the wind although Joe Barron's blood was up and
he notched some impressive scores in a determined display. John
Bruton contested midfield bravely but Dunboyne were very sharp
on the breaks.
Kilbride did well to make things difficult for Dunboyne and
competed for every ball but ultimately came up a bit short in
terms of penetrating attacks. Despite this, the Dunboyne Keeper
made 2 fantastic saves, firstly from a quick Brian White free
and secondly from a John Bruton piledriver. Kilbride now have
a few weeks to circle the wagons and rally the troops for one
last championship effort to save the season.
The last chance saloon awaits..........................

2007 - JFC - Kilbride
1 - 07, Gaeil Colmcille 2 - 12
Gaeil Colmcille were generally travelling in hope to this fixture
in Bohermeen against fancied Kilbride, but at half time they
effectively had the points in the bag after a disastrous half
from the Kilbride men.
Kilbride were 0-7 to 0-0 down after a few minutes before a mini
revival with an Andrew Rennicks goal and points from Finbar
Clarke and Robbie Rooney. However the Kells side rustled the
onion sack either side of half time and tagged on points at will
to post a huge target for Kilbride to chase. Kilbride did rally
and looked to be getting the better of Gaeil Colmcille but it
was too much too late and the championship tradition ( in Kilbride
) of losing the first game is kept alive.

2007 - AFL - Kilbride
0 - 6, Clann na Gael 0 - 12
Kilbride travelled to Athboy in the middle of a heatwave looking
for a few rays of hope before the championship opener but
came away with a couple black clouds hovering over their preparations.
Kilbride started like a train but an early injury to John Bruton
threw the team badly out of it's rhythm. Kilbride looked comfortable
in possession but rarely looked like troubling the scoreboard
keeper, the exceptions being long range scores from Brian White,
Robbie Rooney and Joe Barron.
The second half was more of the same, as Clann na Gael used
a strong midfield platform to setup many attacks and their forward
line had a very efficient conversion rate. This was despite a
strong performance from the Kilbride backs including Conor Rennicks
and John Smith at full back who minded the square as if his life
depended on it.

2007 - AFL - Kilbride
3 - 6, Bective 1 - 08
Kilbride came into this re-arranged Division 4 A League game
v Bective on St Patrick’s day with a severely weakened
team due to injuries & holidays. Playing conditions were
severely hampered due a strong breeze which blew across the pitch,
with the pitch itself sticky under foot. Kilbride started poorly & found
themselves 2 points to nil down after 5 minutes. Andy Rennicks
got Kilbride off the mark with a fine point from the right hand
side but Bective responded with 2 points of there own. Kilbride
played some excellent football in the first half but as in the
previous two games, silly mistakes cost the home team dearly
as Bective added 2 further points to stretch their lead to five
points. Kilbride put up a mini comeback when John Gallagher spun
on a five cent piece to point while under pressure from four
Bective players, & two minutes later Chris Rafter cut the
deficit to a single point with a smart finish to the Bective
net. With the game heading for half time, Bectives midfielder
Sean Moran found himself in space inside Kilbrides 21 yard line
but the resulting shot was expertly saved by Emmett Farrell but
the rebound came off the leg of full back John Smith & fell
kindly to the Bective corner forward who coolly converted to
the Kilbride net to leave the half time score of Kilbride 1-2,
Bective 1-6.
Kilbride started the 2nd half brightly & a pointed through
Stephen O Sullivan. Bective responded with a point of their own
but the home team hit back with a brilliantly hit point from
Chris Rafter to leave three points between the teams. Kilbride
enjoyed plenty of possession but were unable to breach a stubborn
visiting defence & even fell four points down when Bective
pointed from a free. With the home team pressing hard, Bective
panicked & when full back turned centre forward Connor Rennicks
found some space inside the Bective area, he was felled by two
defenders & the ref pointed to the spot. Finbarr Clarke converted
the penalty to leave the minimum between the sides & the
same player converted two frees to leave the home team in front
for the first time in the game, with 7 minutes left on the clock.
Bective were unable to recover & Kilbride made the game safe
when Kevin Mulligan forced the Bective keeper to drop the ball
to his own net to leave the winning margin at four points. So
Kilbride get their first win of the year with a battling performance
but with the championship on the horizon, there is still room
for much improvement.

2007 - AFL - Kilbride
1 - 10 ,
Moynalvey 1 - 10
Kilbride hosted an entertaining clash between the 2 relegated
teams from last years division 3 on a balmy morning for football.
Conditions were sticky underfoot and again Kilbride were slow
to get going as Moynalvey started brightly. Moynalvey's full
forward Willie Byrne showed up everywhere in the attack and they
were 2 points ahead after 10 minutes. Kilbride then levelled
through points from hot shot Stephen O'Sullivan and John Bruton.
Moynalvey then dealt a sucker blow to Kilbride with a freak goal
which ricoched into the net via the post and the head of Kilbride
stopper Emmet Farrell. 2 minutes later Emmett Farrell and John
Smith conspired bravely to save a certain Moynalvey goal and
go into the break only 3 points down.
After the break Moynalvey immediately stretched their lead and
continued to play clever football with precise balls into their
full forward line. Kilbride's scores did not come as freely
and were more laboured. Kilbride were 5 points down with 10 minutes
to go and even the optimists would not have put money on Kilbride
pulling a result out of the fire. But pull it out they did, with
the help of veteran warhorses Robbie Rooney and Kevin Quinn who
were sprung from the bench. Quinn went straight in at full forward
and immediately unsettled the Moynalvey full back line with a
few friendly shoulders. Free's from Finbar Clarke cut the margin,
then Andy Rennicks fisted to the net to setup a thrilling finish.
With the last kick of the game mayoman Cormac Holland took a
leaf of the Colm Coyle school of point taking with a long punt
that bounced over the bar. Kilbride's spirit deserved a point
at least although Moynalvey will be disapointed to leave it behind
them.

2007 - AFL - Drumbaragh 1-08, Kilbride 1-05
Kilbrides first league match of the season ended in disapointment
today in Drumbaragh. A disasterous start saw Kilbride concede
a goal after 20 seconds with a high ball getting an unpredictable
bounce off the crossbar and the Drumbaragh corner forward gladly
palming to the net. Two quickfire points followed and Kilbride
were reeling. Kilbride then scored a disputed goal by Brian White
to haul themselves back into the match. Kilbride's midfielders
were winning plenty of possession but the forwards were unable
to work the ball into scoring positions. Drumbaragh were looking
dangerous with less possession as they had a clear plan of putting
long diagonal balls into the corners were there corner forwards
were quick off the mark. Kilbride managed to get to the break
with a five point deficit and a strong wind with them for the
second half.
Drumbaragh restarted brightly to extend their lead but Kilbride
started to chalk some points up via some fine free taking from
Finbar Clarke. There was some fine link up play out of defence
from Kilbride from full back Conor Rennicks, David Barron, John
Bruton, Andrew Rennicks and Cormac Holland. Andrew Rennicks negotiated
some tricky balls that were skillfully thrown up by the ref including
some nice dummy's. With 2 points in the difference with 15 minutes
to go, it was looking likely the Kilbride may draw level but
they never got the major that was required and Drumbaragh tagged
a long range point to close out the match. Ultimately Kilbride's
inability to scrore a point from play in the match proved costly
but they will take some consolation from the good attitude shown
by the team and the fitness levels that were evident near the
end of the match.
