07th August, 2010 - JFC - Kilbride 1-13 , Slane 1-10

Kilbride ensured their JFC status with a hard fought win over Slane in Duleek on a perfect night for football. Kilbride started very well but had little to show for their efforts after 20 minutes apart from points by Brian White and Paul Smith who were both very accurate with the boots on the night.
Slane then hit a purple patch before the break with a quickfire 1-04 which put them 2 points up at the break.

Kilbride laboured in the first 10 minutes of the second half and Slane extended their lead with some well taken points. David Barron and Finbarr Clarke led well from the half back line, helped by a strong midfield showing from John Bruton and Craig Sheridan and a masterclass when moved to full forward from Brian White, Kilbride camly went about chasing down the Slane lead. Well struck points from Paul Smith, Robbie Rooney and Craig Sheridan got Kilbride back in the hunt.
Brian White was then hauled down for a penalty which was duly dispatched by Mark Sheridan to put Kilbride into the lead with a few minutes to go. To their credit Slane fought back and hit the woodwork twice in the last few minutes but Kilbride showed a lot of heart and fitness in the last 15 minutes to edge this encounter and send Slane towards the relegation trap door.

23rd July, 2010 - AFL - Kilmainham 1-09 , Kilbride 1-07

Kilmainham edged out Kilbride for the second time in a matter of days, this time in the league in Kells on a dark, wet night for football. Kilbride will feel hard done by to lose a game in which they put up
a very strong showing and proved again that with a couple of fresh reinforcements that this team can compete with anyone in the Junior grade.

Paul Smith's placekicking was perfect as Kilbride looked the more settled team in the first half. Kilmainham snatched a goal before half time to lead by a point. After the break Kilbride edged ahead
as Mark Sheridan played in John Bruton who expertly rattled the onion sack to put Kilbride in the lead. Kilmainham fought back through a series of long range frees and held out for the victory as the clock ran out for Kilbride.

16th July, 2010 - JFC - Kilmainham 2-15 , Kilbride 0-09

Kilmainham made a whirlwind start to this junior championship encounter in Slane with 2 goals inside the first 15 minutes and added a few points which had Kilbride on the ropes.
Points from Paul Smith, John Bruton and Mark Sheridan brought Kilbride to life but they still went into the break 9 points down. Kilmainham were winning a lot of secondary possession at this stage and taking advantages of
gaps in the Kilbride defence and were well worth their lead at half time.

The second half was a different affair with Kilbride having more of the possession after the break and really taking it to Kilmainham without ever really landing a significant blow. Robbie Rooney was sprung from the bench
and made an instant impact with 2 points to add to others from Brian White, Jeff Sheridan and Mark Sheridan. However it was a goal that was needed if Kilbride were to really get back into this game and when Brian White was denied from a good goal effort, the writing was on the wall.
Kilmainham managed to keep registering a couple of points every time Kilbride scored and went on to be worthy winners with a good team performance.

06/07/10 - AFL - Kilbride 2-13 Slane 1-06

Kilbride recorded a welcome victory over visitors Slane on a perfect night for football in Kilbride. Kilbride started off like a train and had a strong wind behind them. Points from Paul Smith, John Bruton and a 45 from Mark Sheridan pushed Kilbride ahead, complimented by a sublime finish to the onion sack from Gareth Lynch before Slane grabbed a quickfire 1-03 before the half to bring Kilbride back to earth. Kilbride were dominant at midfield and the forward line were moving very well with a higher conversion rate than normal.

Slane registered a point immediately on the restart and looked set to contest with a huge wind behind them. However, Kilbride dug deep with great defensive displays from Willie Tormey, Niall Farrelly and David Barron setting up the platform for the forwards to keep the scoreboard ticking over and close out a welcome win on home turf.

Kilbride - Emmet Farrell, Sean Farrell, Willie Tormey, Niall Farrelly, Jeff Sheridan, David Barron, John Smith, Oliver Nolan, Craig Sheridan, Finbarr Clarke, Brian White, Gareth Lynch, Mark Sheridan, John Bruton, Paul Smith. Subs : Robbie Rooney, David Harford

23/06/10 - JFC - Dunsany 1-16 Kilbride 0-09

Kilbride were left to rue an opening half in which they completely dominated championship contenders Dunsany but failed to convert that pressure into hard currency on the board. Kilbride had 3 clear goal chances in the first 10 minutes with no reward. Kilbride's forward line were moving well and causing lots of problems for Dunsany's defence but not the scoreboard keeper. Points from Mark Sheridan and Brian White eventually steadied the ship but somehow Dunsany managed to be extremely economical with their limited possession to register some fine quickfire points and go in to the break ahead by 0-7 to 0-5.

After the break, Dunsany managed to tag on a few more points to stretch ahead. Points from Craig Sheridan and David Harford put Kilbride back in the game but a harsh sending off of Kilbride centre forward Brian White effectively ended the contest as a slick Dunsany outfit utilised the extra man very well to create overlaps and punish Kilbride on the break as they tried to get back into the game.

Kilbride - Emmet Farrell, Sean Farrell, Willie Tormey, Niall Farrelly, Finbarr Clarke, David Barron, John Smith, Oliver Nolan, Craig Sheridan, Jeff Sheridan, Brian White, Gareth Lynch, Mark Sheridan, John Bruton, Paul Smith. Subs : Robbie Rooney, David Harford

28/05/10 - JFC - Dunboyne 0-13 Kilbride 0-10

Kilbride's focus on the championship changed from qualification to survival after a tense 60 minute tussle with neighbours Dunboyne. Kilbride were solid in the first half and had plenty of possession but Dunboyne were winning plenty of frees in a stop start type of game and they had a deadly accurage place kicker who nudged them ahead at half time.

Kilbride played much better in the second half and hit unanswered points from Finbarr Clarke, Jeff Sheridan and John Bruton. However Dunboyne regrouped and managed to edge ahead again. Kilbride had a goal chance at the end which resulted in a point, however it would not have been enough with the game "on the whistle". Dunboyne had a man sent off midway through the second half after a "getting to know you session" with the Kilbride full back but the extra man was not evident as Kilbride lost their shape. Kilbride will rue not winning a match in which they never looked second best and the stop start nature of the match did not suit them with the referee having a very sensitive whistle on the night and with general confusion regarding the new hand pass rules.

Kilbride - Emmet Farrell, Sean Farrell, Willie Tormey, Niall Farrelly, Brian White, John Bruton, John Smith, Oliver Nolan, Craig Sheridan, Jeff Sheridan, Dave Barron, Gareth Lynch, David Harford, John Bruton, Finbarr Clarke. Subs : Robbie Rooney

21/05/10 - AFL - Kilbride 1-8, Curraha 1-11

Kilbride started well in this local derby and dominated the early exchanges from midfield, but a Curraha goal before half time gave them a lead of 1-6 to 0-5 at the break. Curragha pushed on after the restart before a Kilbride rally with points from Jeff Sheridan and a goal from Garret Lynch made it a tight finish but Curraha held on for the 2 league points.

Kilbride - Chris Rafter, Sean Farrell, Willie Tormey, Niall Farrelly, Brian White, David Barron, John Smith, Oliver Nolan, Craig Sheridan, Jeff Sheridan, Joe Barron, Gareth Lynch, David Harford, John Bruton, Finbarr Clarke. Subs : Paul Smith,

13/05/10 - AFL - Moylagh 0-14 Kilbride 0-5

Kilbride lost out in this AFL clash in Moylough on a wet Thursday night. Kilbride dominated the first 20 minutes but could not convert pressure into scores while Moylagh's forwards were very clinical with the limited ball they received in the first half. Early points from Brian White and David Harford kept Kilbride in the game but in the second half Moylagh pulled away and the game was never in doubt despite late Kilbride points from Robbie Rooney and David Harford.

Kilbride - Emmet Farrell, Sean Farrell, John Smith, Niall Farrelly, Brian White, David Barron, John Bruton, Oliver Nolan, Craig Sheridan, Jeff Sheridan, Joe Barron, Gareth Lynch, David Harford, Robbie Rooney, Finbarr Clarke. Subs : Paul Smith, Mark Sheridan

07/05/10 - TC - Meath Hill 3-11 Kilbride 1-13

Meath Hill hit Kilbride with a late sucker blow for the second time this year to put the North Meath side into the next round of the Tailteann Cup. In these 2 games, Meath Hill have proved to have that great quality of getting over the line in a tight game. In this encounter, Kilbride played out of their skins from 1-15, but unfortunately 1-15 had to stay on the pitch for the fulll match including extra time while Meath Hill were able to call on 3-4 subs which undoubtably helped to freshen up their team in extra time.

Every Kilbride man that took to the pitch put his shoulder to the wheel and the faithful support who made the long journey to Meath Hill to support Kilbride were not disapointed in the display from the men in Red and Green.

Kilbride were 1-3 to 0-0 up after ten minutes after a whirlwind start. Old Stager Dermot White used all of his guile to win a penalty duly dispatched by David Harford. Crucially Meath Hill enjoyed a very profitable few minutes before half time registering a quickfire 2-4 to lead Kilbride at the break by 2 points. Meath Hill continued after the break before Kilbride put in a trojan effort until the end to lead through points from Dermot White, Brian White, Finbarr Clarke, David Harford and Craig Sheridan. In a period of added time which would not have been out of place at Old Trafford, the referee conjured up enough time for Meath Hill to get the 2 points they needed to draw the match from 2 free kicks.

Kilbride started well in extra time but ultimately started to tire on account of having no substitues to bring on and having a man sent off and Meath Hill duly pushed on to close out the match by a few points in a highly entertaining and heartening match of gaelic football.

Kilbride - Emmet Farrell, Sean Farrell, Brian White, Niall Farrelly, Finbarr Clarke, David Barron, Stephen Sullivan, Oliver Nolan, Craig Sheridan, Jeff Sheridan, Joe Barron, Gareth Lynch, David Harford, Dermot White, Paul Smith

19 April 2010 - JFC - Meath Hill 3-9 Kilbride 1-9

Meath Hill got off to a good start in the 2010 Junior Championship after two late goals gave them a fortuitous victory over Kilbride in this first round match, played in Slane on Sunday afternoon.

With the game entering the last few minutes and the sides level, it was Meath Hill who showed the greater composure with goals from the outstanding Mark Tully and captain Keith Ginnitty, seeing off a determined Kilbride outfit.

Kilbride started the game brightly, with a quickfire 1-3 from veteran David Harford and a fine Robbie Rooney point before the break. However, Meath Hill fought back before the end of the first half to draw level at 1-4 apiece at the break.

The second half was nip and tuck as both teams traded points right up until Tully netted again near the end. Kilbride played with a high degree of passion throughout the game with Craig Sheridan and John Bruton leading the charge and Brian White rolling back the years with a man of the match performance. Kilbride kept plugging away with point from Brian White and David Harford, but conceded a goal with less than 2 minutes remaining, after good build up work from substitute Derek McMahon. Kilbride rallied the troops to try to get an equalising goal, but it was Meath Hill who hit on the counter attack when Keith Ginnitty finished a good team move by lobbing the goalkeeper with almost the last kick of the game.

Dave Harford, John Bruton and Brian White played well for Kilbride.

22nd March 2010 - AFL    Kilbride 3-05, Ballivor 1-11

A share of the spoils was the end result of this highly entertaining Division 4 match in Kilbride last Sunday.

The first half was nip and tuck with both teams taking some excellent scores. Gareth Lynch scored Kilbride's goal which ( along with points from Chris Rafter, Brian White and a rare "hens tooth" score from Stephen Sullivan ) meant they stayed close to Ballivor who were making more use of long range points in the first period. The first half ended 1-3 to Kilbride and 0-7 points to Ballivor. The early period of the 2nd half was the visitors best period, they extended their lead to 4 points. Kilbride then hit a purple patch striking 2 excellent goals, the first from Craig Sheridan and then Gareth Lynch again. Kilbride pegged on 2 points from Craig Sheridan and Chris Rafter in this period to give them a 4 point advantage going into the last 10 mins.

But Ballivor were not done and against the run of play they broke to get a goal from close range and with and with 5 mins remaining Kilbride gave away a free in a dangerous position to give Ballivor the equaliser. The game had a thrilling finish with Kilbride piling on the pressure and had several opportunities to take all the spoils, but it was not to be. Kilbride were best served by Dave Barron, Niall Farrelly in defence and Gareth Lynch, Finbar Clark in attack.

Kilbride - Emmet Farrell, Sean Farrell, Willie Tormey, Niall Farrelly, Brian White, Dave Barron, Stephen Sullivan, Ollie Nolan, Craig Sheridan, Jeff Sheridan, Joe Barron, Gareth Lynch, Finbarr Clarke, Chris Rafter, Philip Roche,

28th February 2010 - AFL    Kilbride 0-04, Bective 1-05

A Mark O'Brien goal was crucial as Bective claimed the spoils at Kilbride in this Division 4 FL game.

The home side got off to a good start with a two point early lead with points from Robbie Rooney and Brian White, but that proved to be the best period for Kilbride after some poor shooting by both teams left the scores at 0-2 to 0-1 at the break.

Brian White

O'Brien's goal midway through the second half enabled Bective to go in front by three points.

The goal proved to be the critical score and Kilbride struggled to find any rhythm after this stage. A point from Ollie Nolan late in the game was cancelled out by two further points from Ruairi Russell and substitute David Keating, which kept the visitor's noses in front at the final whistle.

Team. E Farrell, S. Farrell, J. Smith, N. Farrelly, F. Clarke, D. Barron, W. Tormey, C. Sheridan, O. Nolan, J Sheridan, B. White, G. Lynch, R. Rooney, S. Sullivan, J. Barron.

Subs: K. Donnellan, C. Rafter, D. White

14th February 2010 - AFL   St. Brigids 1-11, Kilbride 2-04

St. Brigids were fast out of the blocks in the AFL match and were 3 points to the good before Kilbride awoke from their slumber with 2 well taken Joe Barron points and a rare score from "jack of all trades" Philip Roche.

Kilbride were 4 points down at the break, despite being well in the contest. St. Brigids surged ahead after the break before Brian White scored a long range goal to bring Kilbride within range. The Kilbride backs were tight, especially Sean Farrell and John Smith. HOwever the shape of the Kilbride team became a bit disjointed and they never looked like tagging on enough scores to get close to a solid St. Brigids outfit.

Team. E Farrell, S. Farrell, J. Smith, N. Farrelly, F. Clarke, D. Barron, S. O'Sullivan, C. Sheridan, O. Nolan, J Sheridan, B. White, G. Lynch, R. Rooney, P. Roche, J. Barron.

Subs: K. Donnellan, C. Rafter
